Roy Lichtenstein
American
1923–1997
Pop artist who appropriated comic-strip panels and commercial graphics at monumental scale. His use of Ben-Day dots, speech bubbles, and flat color questioned originality and high/low boundaries. Lichtenstein later reinterpreted landscapes and Abstract Expressionism through his signature graphic language.
